You don’t need to travel far to find somewhere worth exploring. Sometimes, the best adventures are hiding just beyond the places you already know.

Our community walks are a chance to discover new trails, uncover the stories behind the places we explore and spend time outdoors with good people. From hidden corners close to home to routes that take us further afield, every walk is a chance to see somewhere differently. You don’t need to know the route. You don’t need to be an experienced walker. And you definitely don’t need to arrive with a group.

Just find a walk, lace up your boots and come with us.

  • Event Eighteen - DEVIL’S PUNCH BOWL

    Join us for a morning of fresh air, good company and stunning views as we explore Devil’s Punch Bowl and the surrounding Surrey Hills.

    Starting from Haslemere Station, we’ll head into the countryside, following scenic woodland paths and open trails along the way.

    Whether you’re coming solo or with friends, everyone is welcome. Expect a relaxed pace, new connections and a Sunday morning well spent outdoors.

Your Questions, Answered

  • Absolutely! Most people come along because they want to meet new people, get outdoors and be part of the community. You won’t be expected to know anyone beforehand. Just come along, and we’ll make sure you feel welcome.

  • Not at all. Our community walks are designed to be relaxed and social rather than competitive or challenging. We walk at a comfortable pace and there’ll be plenty of opportunities to stop, chat and enjoy the surroundings. Just make sure you’re comfortable with the distance and terrain listed for the individual event.

  • Comfortable walking shoes or boots, weather appropriate clothing, water and any snacks you might want along the way. We recommend checking the weather before you set off and bringing a waterproof layer if rain is expected.

  • Yes. All participants must complete the Northern Wind waiver before attending. You can complete this via your Eventbrite ticket or our waiver form.

  • Our walks will generally go ahead whatever the weather, but if conditions become unsafe, we may need to change or postpone the route. Any important updates will be communicated to participants.

  • Where possible, we’ll finish with the option to grab a coffee and continue the conversation together. Details of the finish point will be included in each individual event.

  • That’s completely fine! Whether it’s your first Northern Wind event or you’ve joined us before, everyone is welcome. Come along, meet some new people and enjoy some time outdoors with us.

  • Founder & Walk Leader

    I've always believed adventure can be found closer to home than we think. Northern Wind started from a love of exploring local trails, hidden places and good conversations, and has grown into a community built around getting outdoors together.

    I lead our community walks and love bringing people together to explore new places, meet new people and enjoy the outdoors.

  • Head of community

    Every adventure needs a good sidekick, and Northern Wind wouldn't be where it is today without Ads.

    From our very first walks, she's been there every step of the way, helping organise events, welcome new faces and keep the adventure moving forward. Her energy, support and enthusiasm have played a huge part in shaping the community we're so proud of today.

  • Run Club Leader & Volunteer

    A long time supporter of Northern Wind, Krishma has been part of the community from the beginning and is always happy to get involved and bring people together.

    Now leading our run clubs, she also helps bring people along to our walks and events, making sure everyone feels welcome and part of the Northern Wind community.
