Celebrate the Summer Solstice at Gosdensheath Farmhouse: A Day of Volunteering, Connection & Celebration

For our fifth Northern Wind event, we’re welcoming in the height of summer with a day that brings people together in nature. In collaboration with Roots to Fruits CIC, we’ll be spending the day at Gosdensheath Farmhouse—starting with a joyful morning of volunteering outdoors, and moving into an afternoon filled with food, craft, and community.

This is a chance to slow down, connect to the land and the season, and mark the solstice in meaningful company. Whether you’re joining for the whole day or dropping in for an hour or two, everyone is welcome. Come prepared for a day outdoors, and leave feeling restored, connected, and inspired.

Day information

JWhat’s Happening on the Day:

🌿 Morning Volunteering

Join us for a few hours of light volunteering in the land and woodland spaces surrounding the farmhouse. No experience needed—just a willingness to get involved and enjoy being outside.

🍞 Breadmaking Workshop

In the afternoon, we’ll gather to learn the basics of traditional breadmaking, guided by community members. Come ready to get your hands floury!

🔥 Tasty BBQ Lunch

We’ll provide the grill—feel free to bring something to throw on or a side to share. Vegetarian options welcome and encouraged.

🥾 Community Nature Walk

After lunch, we’ll head out for a slow, mindful walk across the local landscape, connecting to the flora, fauna and each other as we go.

✨ Solstice Celebration

We’ll close the day with a gentle celebration of the solstice—nothing too formal, just a moment to share in the beauty of the longest day and reflect together on what summer means to each of us.
