Join Us for Our Next Community Hike: Chantry Wood

Join us for a morning of fresh air, great company, and a hike through the beautiful Chantry Wood.

Starting from Guildford town centre, we’ll make our way past Guildford Castle and up towards Chantry Wood, following a mix of town paths, woodland trails and countryside routes along the way.

Whether you’re looking to meet new people, spend some time outdoors, or simply swap a Sunday morning indoors for one on the trails, everyone is welcome. We’ll keep a relaxed pace, with plenty of opportunities to chat, take in the scenery and enjoy being outdoors together.

If you’re coming by train, Guildford Station is just a short walk from the meeting point, making it easy to join us from around Surrey and beyond.

We’ll finish back in Guildford with coffee and conversation at Frida Coffee House.

Route Overview

Starting from Guildford town centre, we’ll head through the town and make our way past Guildford Castle before beginning the climb towards Chantry Wood. Once we reach the woodland, we’ll follow a mixture of peaceful trails and natural paths through the trees, taking our time to enjoy the surroundings and changing scenery.

The route includes a few steady climbs and some uneven woodland terrain, but the hike is designed to be social and relaxed rather than challenging. There’ll be plenty of opportunities to stop, catch your breath, chat with fellow hikers and enjoy the views along the way.

After exploring Chantry Wood, we’ll make our way back towards Guildford town centre, finishing together with coffee and conversation at Frida Coffee House.

Whether you’ve joined us before or this is your first Northern Wind hike, you’ll be very welcome.

Comfortable walking boots or trail shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, a bottle of water and any snacks you’d like along the way.

We also recommend bringing suncream if the forecast is warm and a waterproof layer if rain is expected.

The route includes uneven woodland terrain, country paths and several steady climbs, so please make sure you’re comfortable with the stated distance and terrain.
